• We are hiring immediately for full time and part time LANDSCAPER I position.
• Location: CCSD K12 - 3999 Bridgeview Drive, North Charleston, South Carolina 29405. Note: online applications accepted only.
• Schedule: Full time and part time; Monday through Friday, 6:30 am to 3:00 pm. More details upon interview.
• Requirements: No prior experience is required. A valid driver's license is required.

• Pay Range: $17.50 per hour to $18.50 per hour.

Job Summary

Summary: Cultivates and maintains landscaping and grounds surrounding campus buildings.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Cares for established lawns by mulching, aerating, weeding, grubbing and removing thatch, trimming and edging around flower beds, walks and walls.
• Plants flowers, pulls weeds, repairs structures and maintains outside of buildings as needed.
• Sweeps walkway of debris and cuts down tree limbs that are posing a danger.
• Rakes, mulches and prunes the grounds as needed.
• Decorates gardens with stones and plants.
• Plants seeds, bulbs, foliage, flowering plants, grass, ground covers, trees and shrubs.
• Uses gardening tools to apply mulch for protection.
• Attaches wires from planted trees to support stakes.
• Utilizes hand-operated construction equipment.
• Follows standard operating procedures for assigned tasks and projects; follows all safety protocol.
• Attends training as required.
• Deploys for emergency response due to inclement weather, i.e. snow and ice, tornado or other crisis.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Rudimentary ability to utilize hand-operated construction equipment.
• Ability to repeatedly lift 50 pounds and kneel/bend/stoop and perform strenuous labor for extended periods of time.

Working Conditions:

• Extensive driving, walking and equipment operation. Exposure to: extreme weather conditions, pesticides, fertilizers, pollen producing environment, paint and petroleum products. Work time expectation: 90% of time will be physical labor, 10% training and misc.
