The City of New Orleans is seeking candidates for a probationary position as a Water Purification Operator with the Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans. The salary for this position is $38,433.00 annually, and it is located in New Orleans, LA.
Kind of Work: Under direct supervision, an employee in this class performs water purification operations at an assigned water plant for the Sewerage and Water Board. Work includes performing technical tasks in maintaining, adjusting, and monitoring activities such as chemical flows, pump operations, and sample testing. Work objectives are to provide safe drinking water to residents, industry, and the general public, and to maintain regulatory compliance with EPA regulatory standards concerning drinking water standards; and related work as directed.
Minimum Qualifications: 1. High school diploma or GED. 2. Current Class I Water Treatment License issued by the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals. Note: Some positions may require a current Louisiana Commercial Driver's License. Prior to appointment, the hiring agency is required to verify education and license claimed by the applicant to qualify for this classification. If selected for hire, applicants must provide original documents of their qualifying credentials to the hiring agency prior to their start date in this job classification.
Kind of Examination: This is a non-competitive original entrance and promotional examination. It will consist of a verification and evaluation of related training and experience. This examination is given in accordance with Rule V, Section 8.1 (b) of the City Civil Service Rules.
