Job Description

NorthBay Health is seeking a Board-Certified, Licensed Addiction Medicine Physician to join our esteemed healthcare team in Northern California. The Addiction Medicine Physician will be part of the Ambulatory services and responsible for diagnosing, treating, and managing patients with substance use disorders, providing both inpatient and outpatient care. Schedule: 

  • Scheduling needs:  Full-time or Part-time
  • Clinic Schedule: Monday-Friday, Clinic hours, 40 hours a week, 8-hour shifts, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
  • Team Support: Collaborative team of physicians, nurses, and support staff in an interdisciplinary setting
  • Work Environment: Outpatient setting 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide outpatient addiction medicine services, delivering direct clinical care to individuals with substance use disorders.
  • Develop outcomes-based treatment plans that address mental health, addictions, functional impairment, and co-occurring addictive and/or medical disorders.
  • Engage patients and families in the development of treatment plans that focus on identified goals and recovery.
  • Provide a minimum of 30 patient contact hours per week.
  • Lead a model of integrated care, collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams to address the full spectrum of patient health.
  • Consult with primary care providers to assist with the management of behavioral health needs for their patients.
  • Develop and lead staff education on addiction-related issues.
  • Directly supervise mid-level practitioners (e.g., Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners).
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and relevant training to maintain expertise in the field of addiction medicine.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation for patient care and billing.
  • Provide high-quality care to patients, ensuring compliance with the standards and policies for the medical clinic.
  • Monitor and comply with Quality Improvement Program indicators as directed by medical leadership.
  • Assure proper follow-up of patients and coordination of specialty referrals, as necessary.
  • Work collaboratively with the Practice Manager to manage schedules, changes, and templates as appropriate.

Required Qualifications

  • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Board certification in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine
  • Board eligible/certified in Addiction Medicine (preferred).
  • Valid California Medical License 
  • California DEA Certificate
